Custodian

GCR, Inc. is seeking a Custodian to support their project located on Fort Meade. This position requires an active Secret Security Clearance.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all tasks associated with commercial custodial cleaning of buildings. Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing and/or polishing floors; removing trash and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; cleaning lavatories, showers and restrooms and providing supplies and minor maintenance services (on janitorial equipment).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all assigned work in accordance with the training provided and in compliance with Corporate, Project and/or Contractual guidelines.
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe manner and in conformance with Company/Project safety requirements at all times.
  • Perform all assigned work in a manner that meets quality expectations and in compliance with Corporate, Project and/or Contractual Quality guidelines.
  • Dry Mops, sanitizes and wet mops floors.
  • Clean baseboards, corners and edges.
  • Spot cleans walls, doors, windows, etc. as required.
  • Clean microwave ovens & refrigerators as directed.
  • Vacuum/Detail carpet.
  • Clean and disinfect restroom commodes, urinals, showers, partitions, floors and walls.
  • Stock restroom toilet paper, paper towel, seat cover and soap dispensers.
  • Empty trash cans.
  • Collects recyclables and places as directed in collection areas.
  • Clean water fountains.
  • Clean interior and exterior glass.
  • Mixes chemicals/cleaning fluids as necessary.
  • Observes and reports need for repair of furniture, building and fixtures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

 

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Actively participate in the GCR & Project Occupational Safety & Health Program.
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe and reasonable manner that avoids preventable injury and preventable property/equipment damage to you, co-workers, customers, GCR, Government and/or the public.
  • Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage.
  • Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, government vehicle, or a privately owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of GCR.
  • Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs and/or alcohol.

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must already possess an Active Secret Clearance.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Submit to and successfully pass Pre-employment Drug Screening and a Background Check.
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in commercial custodian cleaning.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, using the English language.
  • Have valid driver’s license and be a citizen of the United States.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • OSHA 10 Certification.

Stationary Engineer

 

GCR, Inc. is seeking an experienced Stationary Engineer to support their project located on Fort Meade.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for operation and maintenance of one or more systems such as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and air circulation), refrigeration, steam or high-temperature water, domestic water, hydronic, or electricity.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adjusts controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the systems, including HVAC system controls, lighting control, and power monitoring.
  • Able to perform diagnostic testing and analysis of system changes and problems.
  • Capable of performing preventive maintenance operational checks on actuators, valves, and dampers.
  • Insure proper working order of boilers, chillers, machinery, pumps, compressors and other building mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate with trades in performing tasks related to operating or maintaining the equipment and systems.
  • Observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, thermometers, sensors, and charts.
  • Records data of various aspects of system operations.
  • Perform maintenance on operations system and other building mechanical equipment to include Air Handlers, Cooling Towers, Fan Coil Units, Vales, and VAV’s
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs to boilers, chillers, pumps, Air Handlers, Fan Coil Units, VAV’s and other associated mechanical equipment.
  • Perform minor after hours repairs
  • Performs housekeeping duties in Central Utility Plant (CUP), Cooling Tower area, Pump House, and BAS control station area.
  • Answer the Work Reception/Help Desk phone in the absence of the dispatcher or after hours and take the appropriate information to address the issue.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must already possess an Active Secret Clearance.
  • Class 1 Maryland State License required.
  • Minimum of five years experience in the operation, maintenance, and chillers over 950 tons.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with high-pressure boilers.
  • OSHA 10 certification.

  • This is a Union position.
