GCR has provided outstanding Facility and Operations Maintenance Services to the DOL Mine and Safety Health Administration since 2004.
Description of Work: GCR provides support at MSHA’s 26-acre laboratory and administrative campus in West Virginia. These facilities consist of a 32,000-square-foot main office and laboratory building, a two-story, 25,000-square-foot prefab office and laboratory building, a 5,250-square-foot explosive test gallery and laboratory, a 3,000-square-foot diesel test gallery and laboratory, a 575-square-foot flammability test gallery, and a maintenance building.
The on-site team provides a range of facility operations and maintenance services as well as performs technical supply management work. This includes full facility maintenance, custodial, roving and stationary security, and grounds maintenance functions. Craftsmen and general maintenance mechanics perform preventive maintenance on all utility and operating systems. The team also provides minor construction and repairs, pavement repairs, and snow removal support.
GCR is responsible for HVAC, plumbing and electrical preventive maintenance and repair; generator maintenance and service; fire alarm maintenance and repair; welding; and sheet metal work. Other responsibilities include minor carpentry services, paper recycling, pavement maintenance, and visitor reception services.
Functions encompass operations, maintenance and repair of most campus systems, structures and equipment, including electrical, HVAC, structural/architectural, lighting, storm and sanitary sewer systems, roads, parking lots, sidewalks, fencing, fire protection, vehicle equipment maintenance, diesel generators, and mobile explosion gallery.
Custodians provide day-to-day and special project cleaning activities to ensure a high-quality appearance and pleasant working environment. Security guards maintain the security of the campus 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
